Police said a couple overdosed in their home with children present, and now the mother is facing charges.

Cranberry Township Police filed charges Tuesday against Nicole L. Schaefers, 43, of Cranberry Township, with one felony count of child endangerment, after she and her late boyfriend overdosed on a mixture of drugs and he died.

She remains free and has a preliminary arraignment scheduled Nov. 3 before District Judge David Kovach.

According to charging documents, police responded Oct. 2 to a home on Wheatfield Drive for a reported overdose. Police said they arrived around 9:24 p.m. and found Schaefers unconscious in the home.
