Unionville VFC gets money from Center Twp.

CENTER TWP — The township supervisors allocated money to a few local organizations — primarily fire services — at Wednesday's meeting.

The supervisors voted to give $150,000 from the fire reserve fund to the Unionville Volunteer Fire Company's building plan.

Supervisor chairman Ron Flatt asked if the township could put funds it received through the American Rescue Plan toward the construction of a facility proposed by the fire company, but the funds could not be used in this way.

The supervisors unanimously approved using money from the reserve fund.

“We will see what the future holds,” Flatt said after the vote.

In other business involving the fire company, the supervisors voted to divide the annual fire insurance funds, an amount totaling $44,221, to Unionville and Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department at an 80-20% split. Unionville will receive $35,377 and Oneida Valley will receive $8,844.

Additionally, the supervisors voted to donate $3,500 to the Center Township food bank, and $1,500 to the Butler Area Public Library.

The township voted to contribute the same $1,500 to the library last year, according to Flatt.
