Township officials attend state association meeting
Local township officials from Butler County will attend the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors’ (PSATS) annual meeting in Harrisburg on Friday.
The meeting traditionally occurs every spring for representatives to vote on legislation and resolutions involving counties statewide. Restrictions from COVID-19 resulted in the business meeting being moved to this weekend.
One Butler County resolution is to have PSATS vote to oppose legislation of water usage fees from private and public water sources in the area.
“Butler doesn’t want that (legislation) to pass,” said Kandi Nassy, voting delegate of Concord Township.
Nassy will attend the convention with Lois Rankin, president of Butler County Association, and some other local government officials. Rankin said most Butler County townships will be represented at the business meeting.
“It’s a full-day business meeting, and we’ll have various supervisors, managers and secretaries there from other townships,” Rankin said.
Charles O. Stowe, Allegheny County representative, is on the advisory board for PSATS and will travel ahead of other representatives for additional meetings.
Nassy said Stowe is nominated for assistant secretary-treasurer of PSATS.
“We’ll be voting on nominations for board executives and officers as well as some bylaw changes,” Nassy said.
According to Nassy, there are 75 resolutions to be voted on at the meeting. Some are new, and others are about to expire and need to be renewed.
PSATS will celebrate its 100th anniversary during this convention on Oct. 14.
