SLIPPERY ROCK — How cool would it be to rank colleges and universities for their campus sustainability and commitment to environmentalism? Well, the Sierra Club has been doing just that with its annual Cool School rankings, and Slippery Rock University is once again listed among the best colleges and universities surveyed in North America.

SRU ranked 194th on the 2021 Cool School rankings, published by Sierra Magazine, the official publication of the Sierra Club, which is one of the oldest, largest and most influential grass-roots environmental organizations in the United States.

The rankings are based on a scoring system that includes survey responses and data from a self-reporting tool.

The criteria are based on 18 weighted categories, everything from curriculum to water, but the four main areas are academics, engagement, planning and administration and operations.?
