Robert “Bob” Charles Kniess, 78, went safely home Aug. 30, 2021, at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, Md. Bob and his wife had lived in Pasadena since 1976.He was born Feb. 16, 1943, in Prospect, to William Dean Kniess and Mabel Lillian Allen. He moved to Maryland with his mother and his siblings in 1957.Bob graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1961.After high school, he worked in construction for 40 years. For most of that time, he worked for a utility contractor, Henkels & McCoy. He was a member of the IUOE Local 37, retiring in 2001.He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1964 until 1970.Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, camping and just being outside tinkering with something. He loved dogs and talking to everyone, and enjoyed meeting new people and making friends.Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Ed and Tom.He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Glatzel of Severna Park; and two children, Kathleen and Andrew, both of Pasadena.He is also survived by Dave (Rachelle) Kniess of Eustis, Fla., Arnold (Doris) Kniess of Glen Burnie, Md., Dan (Judy) Randolph of Spokane, Wash., and Joyce (Lee) Kroeger of Pasadena; and two half-sisters, Charlene (Mike) Pinter of Ohio, and Tracy Kniess of Pennsylvania.KNIESS — The family of Robert “Bob” Charles Kniess, who died Monday, Aug. 30, 2021, is planning a celebration of life to be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, Pasadena, Md., or the American Cancer Society.
