State parks host programs
Moraine and McConnells Mill state parks have announced upcoming community programs.
“Hemlock Heroes” will take place from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Breakneck Falls Parking Lot at McConnells Mill.
This is a two-mile hike with a park naturalist along the Slippery Rock Creek on Breakneck Falls Trail.
A Fall Foliage Hike is planned for 4 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 14, leaving from the Kildoo Pavilion at McConnells Mill. To register call the park office 724-368-8811.
A Fall Foliage Cruise will leave the McDanel’s Area on the North Shore of Moraine at 4 p.m. Oct. 15.
Seating is limited. Cost is $15 for adults, $13 for senior citizens and $8 for children. Registration in advance is required by calling. 724-368-9185.
And an Owl Prowl is slated to begin at 6 p.m. Oct. 21 from the Pleasant Valley Non-Motorized Launch Area on the South Shore of Moraine. Pre-registration required by calling 724-368-8811.
All current health guidelines will be followed.
