Shelia J. Matson

Sheila J. Matson, 74, of Butler, passed away Sunday Sept. 26, 2021, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 17, 1946, in Butler, and was the daughter to the late Walter Smith and the late Martha Stewart Smith.

Sheila was a graduate of Butler High School. She then went on to Butler County Community College where she received her registered nurse degree. Sheila worked as a registered nurse at St. Barnabus in Gibsonia retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary South Butler VFD. Sheila enjoyed cruising, scrap booking, planting flowers, doing things with her grand children. She was called the “Cruise Queen” by her family as she would organize the family cruises. Sheila was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph H. Matson, whom she married on July 14, 1967; two daughters, Traci (John) Lowry of Oak Ridge, N.C., and Kelli (Chad) Geist of Sykesville, Md.; four grandchildren, Tara, Shaun, Xander and Aubrey; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Kelly Smith of Slippery Rock; one brother-in-law, Roger Tucker of Butler; one sister-in-law, Maryann Matson of Butler; and one niece and six nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Cheryl Tucker.

Matson — Friends of Shelia J. Matson, who died Sunday Sept. 26, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 East North St., Butler.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Tom Harrison, of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
