6 charged in 'fight' case at vo-tech school

Boy says he was attacked

Details of the alleged assault in April involving students at the Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School are outlined in charges filed Wednesday.

“(A 16-year-old boy) advised that approximately five persons had attacked him in the locker room following (a) class,” said the investigating officer in an affidavit.

Jackson P. Carter, 18, of Seven Fields, was one of six charged by Butler Township police in the alleged locker room beating of a 16-year-old boy, who attends school in the Seneca Valley School District.

Carter is charged with misdemeanor assault and harassment. The criminal complaint for his case was available to the public because he is an adult.

According to a news release by police, a 16-year-old Petrolia boy, a 17-year-old Parker boy and a 17-year-old East Brady boy were all charged with harassment; a 17-year-old East Brady boy faces conspiracy and disorderly conduct charges; and a 17-year-old Chicora boy was charged with simple assault, conspiracy and disorderly conduct.

School officials reported the “fight” the following day on April 9; however, the alleged assault took placed April 8 between the hours of 9:45 and 9:55 a.m., police said.

Police said they spoke with the victim at the station on April 9.

The victim went to UPMC Passavant following the incident and was discovered to have a broken nose, police said.

“The incident was recorded and one of the actors had sent him the video,” police said.

Police said the video shows the accuser on the ground and Carter walking toward him nude. Police said Carter made inappropriate contact with the accuser while others in the group beat and grabbed at him.

“(The accuser) stated that during this incident, he was struck in the face by (one of the defendants),” police said. “Said action caused pain and bleeding, and he was later diagnosed with a broken nose.”

Police said school officials helped to identify the defendants from the video.

A preliminary hearing for Carter has been scheduled Oct. 14 before District Judge Kevin O'Donnell.
