2nd case filed against alleged child predator
Details of a second case against an alleged child predator filed in Butler Township were released.
State police filed charges against John “Jay” Goettler, 54, of Jefferson Township, in the office of District Judge Kevin O'Donnell. Those charges include four misdemeanors, including three counts of indecent assault and one count of corruption of minors.
The charges were filed one day after a separate set of charges were filed in Saxonburg's district court for similar alleged offenses. In the first case, Goettler is charged with five felonies and three misdemeanors, all sex-related.
In the Butler Township case, Goettler is accused of inappropriately touching a girl between the age of 6 and 10 over a span of years between 1998 and 2005, according to charging documents.
Police said Goettler would have been between 34 and 38 years old during that time.
“On multiple occasions, Jay would coerce (the girl) outside to the garage or near the garage,” said the investigating officer. “Jay would often say something to the effect of 'Come look at this' to get (the girl) to come outside.”
Police said Goettler would then touch her inappropriately.
The woman allegedly told officers that Goettler continued to sexually assault her for years until she moved out of the state in 2005.
A preliminary hearing for this case has been scheduled Oct. 14 before O'Donnell.
