Leonard Walkowiak

Leonard Stephen Walkowiak passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021.

Leonard “Len” was born Oct. 30, 1940, in Arnold, Pa.

He was a 1961 graduate of Clarion University.

He taught in both Karns City School District and Fox Chapel School District for more than 35 years.

During retirement, Len was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing cards. He also owned and maintained several rental properties throughout Butler.

Len is survived by his wife of 56 years, Diane Louise McElrath, whom he met while they both attended Clarion; and a sister, Dorothy (Walkowiak) Goch and her husband, Walter, of Lower Burrell.

Len also had two sons, Timothy Walkowiak and his wife, Richelle, of Wexford, and Daniel and his wife, Amanda Walkowiak, of Denver, Colo.

He is survived by five grandchildren, Carlie Walkowiak of Butler, and Thomas, Joseph, Samuel and Ava Walkowiak of Denver.

He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including Sharon and Tony Sutton of Philadelphia, Gerianne and Mark Nagel of Butler and Diane and Jeff Mechling of Pittsburgh.

WALKOWIAK — Family and friends of Leonard Stephen Walkowiak, who died Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, will gather from noon until 3 p.m. Friday at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, with a memorial service immediately following.

The Walkowiak family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Leonard Walkowiak's name to Butler Cubs Basketball Association at Cubs ASA, P.O. Box 2173, Butler, PA 16001.
