On July 29, 2021, Anthony “Tony” John, 80, passed away at his home in Woodstock, Va., surrounded by his family. Tony and his wife, Cathy, recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.

On July 29, 2021, Anthony “Tony” John, 80, passed away at his home in Woodstock, Va., surrounded by his family. Tony and his wife, Cathy, recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary.Tony was born in December of 1940 in Pittsburgh, and was a son of the late Bismark A. John and Anna B. Jurysta.He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until 1961, with time spent overseas in North Africa.A millwright by trade, he was known by most as a motorcycle enthusiast, racing for 40+ years.Tony never met a stranger. He often shared food with neighbors, and enjoyed inviting hikers and random passersby to join family cookouts.His passion for storytelling, especially around the campfire, is something that his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews will remember forever.In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by two brothers, George “Chesty” and Eugene “Termite”; and an infant son.He is survived by his wife, Cathy, and their five children, Rita (Lewis), Carla, Donna (Jeff), Tony (April) and Linda; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren and three more on the way.He is also survived by two brothers, Mark and Greg; and three sisters, Agnes “Pinky,” Marylou and Irene.JOHN — Per his request, there is no memorial service or funeral being planned for Anthony “Tony” John, who died Thursday, July 29, 2021.Arrangements by Heishman Funeral Home, Valley Funeral Service Branch, Edinburg, Va..The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Woodstock Rescue Squad, 132 W.
