County Residents Remember
“I had just assembled my mail route and was getting ready to leave a post office just north of Pittsburgh when someone said a plane had hit the World Trade Center,” said retired postal worker Wilfred Dressel of Allison Park, formerly of Middlesex Township. “I didn’t think much of it until later when one of my customers invited me into her house to see the second tower had now been struck.”
“It wasn’t long after that I was back outside and a plane flew overhead that seemed to be flying lower than normal,” he said.
“I’ve often wondered if that was Flight 93 after it turned around near Cleveland with its crew and passengers figuring out how to keep the hijackers from reaching their intended target.”
