Mars Borough Council approved filming for the TV series “Sprung” in downtown Mars at a meeting Tuesday night.

Picrow Streaming Inc. plans to use locations in the borough for filming for the upcoming Amazon IMDb TV series from Greg Garcia, creator of “My Name is Earl.”

“Sprung” stars Garret Dillahunt, Illeana Douglas and Philip Garcia.

The series will follow Jack, played by Dillahunt, a recently released convicted criminal who decides to turn his life around and foil people who are taking advantage of others during the COVID-19 pandemic. The show was greenlit in April and will air on Amazon's free IMDb TV streaming service.

Dates for filming are still in the works, but the company tentatively plans to film on Sept. 16 and 17, according to Mars Borough Mayor Gregg Hartung.

“There are different properties in Mars (that they're looking at), and they are working with the businesses and owners in terms of using those sites for scenes in the TV show,” Hartung said.
