Mary Rita Greiner

Mary Rita Greiner, 97, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Wexford, she was the daughter of Andrew and Flora Meinert.

She was a devoted member of St. Ferdinand Church. In addition, she was a member of the Mars VFW Post 7505.

Mary Rita enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who was loved by many. She was the fairest person you would ever meet. The room would light up with her smile.

Mary Rita was known for the best baked beans and “Apple” cake ever made.

She is survived by her children, Rita Gable (the late Edward), Sandy McCaulley (James Jr.), Ellwood Greiner (Michele), Gail Greiner, and Greg Greiner (Deb).

She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellwood Greiner Sr.; seven sisters; two brothers; two grandsons; and two great- grandchildren.

GREINER — Family and friends of Mary Rita Greiner, who died Tuesday, July 27, 2021, will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at George A. Thoma Funeral Home, 10418 Perry Hwy., Wexford.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Church. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.

In lieu of flowers, Mary Rita requested donations to the St. Vincent De Paul Society at 412-321-1071.
