2 women charged with drug dealing

Meth, cocaine allegedly found

Butler Township police said they have connected drugs found in a vehicle to two city women.

Lea M. Hein, 42, and Lacey L. Vanwormer, 35, both of Butler, are co-defendants in charges filed Friday that include two felony counts of drug dealing and one felony count of criminal conspiracy.

They are also charged with misdemeanors, including two counts of possessing a controlled substance and one count of possessing marijuana. Neither woman had been arrested on these charges as of Monday afternoon.

According to charging documents, police saw Hein driving a gold Ford Edge on Hansen Avenue, and an officer knew her to have an active warrant for her arrest and a suspended driver's license.

Police said they stopped the vehicle and arrested Hein immediately. Officers said Vanwormer was the passenger and also had a suspended driver's license, so the vehicle, which was not owned by either woman, was impounded.

“Once I started the inventory, I recognized a small white pouch on the passenger-side floor, which had the word “Hustle” on it,” said the investigating officer.

Police said once they spotted suspected drugs and cash inside the pouch, they requested a search warrant. Once issued, police were able to get a better look at the pouch and its contents.

Inside, officers allegedly found $1,406 in cash as well as one bag of suspected crystal meth, containing about an eight-ball's worth, which represents an eighth of an ounce. Another bag contained a small amount of marijuana, and a third bag contained an amount of suspected crack cocaine about the size of a golf ball.

“The amount of crystal meth, crack cocaine, U.S. currency and there being no drug paraphernalia seized that would possess someone to use the drugs seized, it is clear with the totality of the circumstances that the amount of drugs seized is more than personal use,” police said.
