Ada L. Spithaler
Ada L. Spithaler, 93, of Zelienople, peacefully passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, while under the care of Passavant Retirement Community and VNA Hospice.
Born Sept. 18, 1927, in Evans City, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Myrtle Little.
Ada was married for 69 years to her beloved husband, George, until he passed away in 2016. They were longtime residents of the Passavant Retirement Community and often volunteered their services.
She was a faithful member of the St. John's United Church of Christ.
One of Ada's greatest talents was her love of cooking and baking. She would make everything from scratch, and everyone wanted to come over for dinner. She would've given Betty Crocker a run for her money!!
Ada also had an artistic flare, and spent many years painting her favorite landscapes. She also had a passion for card making, and would custom make cards for every occasion, sending them to residents and family members. She said that she knew every resident in the New Haven complex, where she lived for the past five years, and I'm sure they received many cards!
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Edward Spithaler and his wife, Carmen, of Franklin, N.C.; her daughter, Sandra Childs and her partner, Steve Cornell, of Plymouth, Mass.; her two grandchildren, Cody Childs and his wife, Amanda, of Bronxville, N.Y., and Corey Childs and his fiancée, Sarah, of Portland, Maine; and her son-in-law, Terrance Doller of Butler.
In addition to her parents, Ada was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Doller.
