Body of missing boy found in river
The body of a 3-year-old missing boy was found Saturday in Armstrong County.
Dwight Dinsmore, of Yatesboro, was found around 2:40 p.m. in the Allegheny River, one mile south of Lock 6 in Bethel Township, Armstrong County, according to Armstrong County Coroner Brian K. Myers.
Myers' report did not list a cause of death.
“The death is being ruled an accident,” said Myers in a news release.
According to a state police news release, Dwight went missing Friday from a camping area along the river in the same township he was found. The search for Dwight began around 3:15 p.m.
Police joined many others in searching for the boy, who had been last seen wearing a gray T-shirt with a black collar and a motorcycle printed on the front.
Police said family members, K-9 units, local police departments and several fire departments assisted them in the search, until it had to be called off due to poor weather conditions.
Searches resumed Saturday morning. One family member set up a fundraising effort for the search through GoFundMe.com.
The family member noted the boy went missing from a camp at Kelly Station, near Ford City.
“He was there one second, ran off the next,” the organizer said.
The organizer also posted updates to the fundraiser, which as of Sunday afternoon raised more than $14,000.
“Unfortunately Dwight has been found in the water,” wrote the organizer in an update on the page. “This fundraiser will now sadly be changed to a fund for the family.”
The boy's obituary is posted on the website of the Carson Boyer Funeral Home in Rural Valley.
“Dwight loved swimming, riding four-wheelers, being adventurous and exploring, playing with his sister and brother and using all the tools in his toolbox,” the obituary said.
A visitation service is being held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be private.
