Diehl Volkswagen land development request tabled
BUTLER TWP — The township planning commission tabled a land development proposal for the expansion of Diehl Volkswagen at a Tuesday meeting.
Diehl plans to renovate an existing office building at 245 Pittsburgh Road to open a new factory dealership, according to Tom Taylor, a project manager with Hampton Technical Associates.
The commission tabled the proposal, because the developers need to provide additional details on the plan to the board.
Some of the requests from the commission included getting more details on the project's stormwater management plan, details on a traffic plan — which must be coordinated with PENNDot because the land is adjacent to the state-owned Route 8 — and information from Sheetz, which is also adjacent to the property.
Taylor said the facility will be a dealership and service center, not a collision center, so there won't be car debris left on the property.
Taylor also said this project was in development prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, which stalled planning and execution for some time. He didn't give a time estimate for the completion of the project.
