Elizabeth Anderson

Elizabeth (Hitchcock) Anderson, 94, of Gibsonia went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2021, after a short illness.

She was born Feb. 23, 1927, the first of three children to Dr. Richard C. and Helen (Brewster) Hitchcock at Magee Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Liz was a loving wife, caring mother and nurturing grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Nicholas Anderson, whom she married Jan. 1, 1949. Liz and Nick met at a dance as students at Indiana State Teachers College in 1947.

She was preceded in death by her younger sister, Barbara George.

She is survived by her younger brother, Dr. Robert Hitchcock of Winchester, Va.

Liz was a fabulous cook, loved to garden, was an avid reader, and enjoyed doing puzzles. Her gentle, loving ways will be sorely missed by her children, Susan Anderson and her husband, Vince McDevitt, Edward and his wife, Alison, Richard and his wife, Ryeon, and Jane and her husband, Randy; as well as her nine grandchildren and one on the way!

ANDERSON — Visitation for Elizabeth (Hitchcock) Anderson, who died Friday, July 2, 2021, will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.

A celebration of Liz's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hampton Presbyterian Church, 2942 E. Hardies Road, Gibsonia. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.

Private interment will follow.
