Fire company event is now Saxonburg Carnival
The Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company Carnival is coming back this August, but it will be different than in previous years.
The event has been moved from its usual July date to Aug. 18-21 and, according to Nicole Szybka, secretary of the Saxonburg VFC, it will simply be known as the Saxonburg Carnival this year.
Additionally, the carnival will be mostly focused on food trucks and food vendors, but there will still be some rides aimed toward young children. The fire company's website said there will be 10 to 12 rides at the carnival.
"We have had the food truck weekends in the past," she said. "This is going to be very similar to those."
Szybka said the organizers of the event are still in the process of finalizing plans for the carnival, but they are aiming to make admission free, with only the rides and food being paid. She said the event is still a fundraiser for Saxonburg VFC.
More information will be available as it is finalized on the fire company's website at www.svfc.com.
