Mary Ellen Grau

Mary Ellen Grau, 88, of Valencia, formerly of Middlesex Township, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Born March 13, 1933, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Grace Moehring McCune.

She was a member of the Mars United Presbyterian Church.

Mary Ellen enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, and made many of the family’s clothes. She played the organ and piano, and had sung with “The Sweet Adelines.” A talented artist, she painted landscapes, and also enjoyed woodwork and small furniture making.

Surviving are her husband, John B. Grau, whom she married on Aug. 9, 1952; her three daughters, Karen (Roger) Marshall of Slippery Rock, Linda Hawkins (Julius Forehand) of Biloxi, Miss., and Carol (Wayne) Sunday of Evans City; a sister, Linda (Roy) Geyer of Renfrew; twin granddaughters, Jill (Jeff) Reed and Julie (Pete) Sebock; and four great-grandchildren, Dylan and Logan Sebock, Brock Reed and Abigail Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Marshall.

GRAU — Friends of Mary Ellen Grau, who died Sunday, June 27, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.

A service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Stoops officiating.

Burial will be in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Cheswick, Pa.
