Thelma McAnallen

Thelma Mae McAnallen, 88, of Renfrew, passed into eternity from her residence on Friday, June 25, 2021, at 2:35 p.m. after a long battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 21, 1932, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elva (McCool) Allen.

Thelma was a 1950 graduate of Butler High School. She retired from Country Motors Honda and was a self-employed notary for many years. Thelma was known for her love of traveling, having visited all 50 states and many foreign countries, the favorites being Australia and New Zealand. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles and crypto- quote. She was a lover of all the performing arts, especially music and theater and the Pirates and Steelers. Her great joy was the time spent with family and friends. She faced life with optimism and an uplifting spirit.

Thelma married Leo James McAnallen on Aug. 23, 1950, and was fortunate to have 52 years together until his death in 2002.

Surviving are her son, Rodney (Luanne) McAnallen of East Brady; four grandsons, Jason McAnallen and Clay McAnallen, both of Butler, Adam Mc-Anallen of East Brady, Matthew (Kelli) Hillwig of Harmony; one great-grandson, Nathan McAnallen of Butler; one sister, Gail Gatta of Florida; one brother, Gene (Etta) Allen of Nevada and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Daniel; four brothers, Leroy Beers, James, Dale and John Allen; and two sisters, Dolly Kastelan and Mary Ann Gardner.

McAnallen — Arrangements are private for Thelma Mae McAnallen, who died Friday, June 25, 2021 and are under the direction of Young Funeral Homes.
