Police say man punched, strangled girlfriend
State police filed charges this week against a Renfrew man they say punched and strangled his pregnant girlfriend.
Michael Dinger, 33, has been charged with felony strangulation as well as summary citations of harassment and disorderly conduct, stemming from a July 10 domestic incident.
Since his July 11 arraignment, Dinger has posted his bail of $17,500, set by District Judge William Fullerton.
According to charging documents, police were dispatched around 10:38 p.m. July 10 to a home on Meadow Lane in Connoquenessing Township.
Police said they talked with Dinger's girlfriend, who was still at the scene, but Dinger had left before they arrived.
“(The girlfriend) further related that Dinger threatened to knock her dad's teeth out and threatened to kill her and her unborn child,” said the investigating trooper in the affidavit.
The girlfriend told officers she was trying to call for help when Dinger attacked her.
“Dinger took her phone, then pushed her onto the bed, grabbed her by the neck and punched her in the stomach,” police said.
According to police, Dinger returned to his home, and he was found and arrested by police around 8 a.m. July 11.
“Dinger was taken into custody without incident,” police said.
Dinger is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing Aug. 3 before District Judge Wayne Seibel.
