Adella Barr

Adella Barr, 79, of Mars passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 10, 2021, while under the care of Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

Born Nov. 9, 1941, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Peter Moore and Cecelia Imhoff Moore.

Adella was a lifetime parishioner of St. Matthias Roman Catholic Church in Evans City, where she was a former eucharistic minister and member of the Christian Mothers.

She worked as a teacher’s aide at the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV in Grove City, and the Mars Home for Youth, where she earned a Spirit Award in 2005. She was also a volunteer for the Evans City Food Cupboard.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 59 years, James Barr, whom she married on Nov. 11, 1961; her children, James (Melissa) Barr Jr., of Lexington, S.C., David (Rosann) Barr of Export, Pa., Michael (Pamela Craig) Barr of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Garry Barr of Mars, and Dr. Maryanne (Jeremy) Houghton of Virginia Beach, Va.; her grandchildren, Abby, Matthew, Jacob, Caroline and Brendan; her sister, Marlene Measel of Evans City; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Adella was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Ronald and Norman Moore.

BARR — Friends of Adella Barr, who died Thursday, June 10, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople.

Adella will be laid to rest at Lakewood Memorial Gardens in Cheswick.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the Salvation Army, 313 W. Cunningham St., Butler, PA 16001.
