Butler County Bar Association Foundation makes donations

The Butler County Bar Association Foundation, the charitable affiliate of the Butler County Bar Association, recently awarded $22,300 in grants to six community organizations and projects that improve the administration of justice and provide support to those in need.

The Saxonburg Police Department received $4,800 to provide tactical rescue training to officers and first responders in the area.

Butler Health System received $5,000 for its new food institute that provides nutrition education and access to healthy food as the result of a 2019 needs assessment that identified a significant gap in adequate food access and health education.

The Community One Public Safety Training Initiative received $5,000 to provide training for defensive and de-escalation training tactics to the law enforcement community in the county and surrounding area.

The South Butler Community Library received $2,500 to increase the number and depth of free educational programs to elementary school students by purchasing materials to grow the existing Summer Bridge program and support 175 students, instead of the 30 students it has funded in the past.

Fishing For Memories Inc. received $3,000 to purchase personal sanitation facilities for the 2021 program, including the installation of a multi-person handwashing station.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace Inc. in Mars received $2,000 to build twin beds for local children, ages 3 to 17, who do not have beds.
