At least two occupants were transported after being involved in a three-vehicle crash on Route 422 near Geibel Road Wednesday afternoon that sent one vehicle into a ditch.

According to Pete Gall, first lieutenant with Lick Hill Fire Department, said it appeared the Honda involved got rear ended when the driver attempted to turn left onto Geibel Road from Route 422. He said the third car, a Saturn, could not avoid the wreckage.

“When there is a wreck on 422, cars just go everywhere,” Gall said. “We have had a few fatals on this road.”

He said the three cars involved — the Honda, a Dodge Durango and a Saturn — were likely all totaled.

Officers closed the westbound lane of Route 422 for a short time, then opened the road to one lane each while firefighters cleaned up and tow trucks removed the cars from the scene.

In addition to Lick Hill, East Butler Volunteer Fire Company, Herman Volunteer Fire Company, Butler Ambulance Service and state police also responded to the scene.
