Patient transported after car collision

Police and firefighters clean up the scene of a two-car crash along Pittsburgh Road about 5 p.m. Monday afternoon.

BUTLER TWP — One woman was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital for a minor head injury after her Nissan Sentra collided with a Dodge Avenger at just before 5 p.m. Monday on Pittsburgh Road.

The other driver was not severely injured in the crash, but a Butler Township police officer said both vehicles were totaled.

Only the drivers were in each car.

The Sentra ended up turned around and perched on a hill next to the southbound lane.

Officials on scene said the Sentra attempted to turn from the northbound lane to head back south, which resulted in the crash.

Officials closed the southbound lane of Pittsburgh Road headed to Hansen Avenue while they cleared the scene. The road reopened around 5:45 p.m. Southbound drivers could still get to Hansen Avenue traveling in the right lane of Pittsburgh Road.

In addition to Butler Township Police, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, Butler City Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
