Kelly announces app challenge
U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, announced this year’s Congressional app challenge, inviting middle and high school students in Western Pennsylvania to participate.
Congress created the contest to spur students to develop STEM and computer-based skills. Careers that require this expertise, such as computer programmers, are in high demand. The challenge encourages students to pursue their interests and develop talent in this field.
“I welcome and encourage students with an interest in computer science to participate,” Kelly said in a news release.
Students can register online by Sept. 10, and the app submission deadline is Nov. 1. Students and parents with questions about the program may visit the official website or contact Kelly’s program coordinator Julie Swartfager at Julie.Swartfager@mail.house.gov.
