Kathryn Jones

Kathryn Jones

Surrounded by her family, Kathryn Jones of Cabot — “Mom” to Margie, David, Becky and Bill — entered into the presence of the Lord this past Sunday.

Kathryn loved Proverbs 3:5, which encourages us “to trust not in our own understanding but to trust in the Lord.” Her love of this verse is a timely reminder that even as we mourn her passing, we are to trust in the Lord and in His promises, even as we grieve.

Those who knew our mother and grandmother will remember her all-encompassing kindness and generosity. They will also remember her vigilance in watching all that was under her care. Like the picture of wisdom, we are given in Proverbs 31, “her lamp did not go out” for everything she loved.

She watched over Carl's (Pap Pap's) fields and cows, David's sweet corn and most of all, her grandkids, Sean, Richard, Corey, Aaron, Rachel, Jacob, Hannah and Bethany. She watched over these things with a care and generosity that was boundless. Plants, animals and especially grandkids all flourished in her care.

Even though we mourn her loss, we know that Kathryn rests in Christ and one day will rise in glory with her beloved Carl; her son-in-law, Jerry; and all of those who rest in the Lord. We long for that day when Christ comes again to “wipe away every tear and death shall be no more.” (Revelation 21:4)

Kathryn Weckerly Jones was born in 1934 and passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021.

She will be missed by her three brothers, Ken, Bud and William (Sheila); her children, Margie, David (Jean), Becky (Ron) and Bill (Karen); her grandchildren, Sean (Krista), Rich (Tamy), Corey (Erica), Aaron, Rachel (Caleb), Jacob (Olivia), Hannah (Parker) and Bethany; and her great-grandchildren, Sennett, Ella, Kaila, Adalin, Killian and Keira.
