Garage destroyed

A detached garage containing mainly firearms and ammunition at 965 Saxonburg Road went up in flames around 3:50 p.m. Thursday. Christopher Dean, chief of the Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company, said the cause of the fire is still unconfirmed, and no injuries were reported. The garage was destroyed by the fire, but the house at the address went undamaged. In addition to Saxonburg VFC and Saxonburg Ambulance, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and Herman Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene.

Saxonburg Volunteer Fire Company chief Christopher Dean said the cause of the fire is still unconfirmed, but it caused no injuries. He said the garage was engulfed by flames when he arrived at the scene, but the fire companies were able to contain it relatively quickly.

The garage was destroyed by the fire, with its roof caved in and some walls collapsing. The house at the address went undamaged.

In addition to Saxonburg VFC and Saxonburg Ambulance, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and Herman Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene. Dean said first responders would likely clear the scene around 5:30 p.m.
