State Pipe Services celebrates 50 years in business

State Pipe Services Inc., a Cranberry-based company in the municipal sanitary and storm infrastructure inspection, cleaning, repair and rehabilitations industry, is celebrating 50 years in business.

The business started June 21, 1971, with two employees, when the late M. Frank Burns rented the first stall of a Franklin Road garage.

Now, the company has 50 employees and services Western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland.

More than that, the company, located at 7587 Franklin Road, has stayed in the family. Frank Burns’ son, the late Scott F. Burns, owned the company after Frank Burns founded it. Valorie L. Burns, Frank’s daughter-in-law, currently owns the company

Its president is Thomas J. Morris, whom the company says has provided State Pipe Services with 48 years of leadership and service.

State Pipe Services boasts it was one of the first companies to fully rehabilitate deteriorated and undersized pipe segments by pipe bursting with fusible HDPE pipes, and now has four dedicated and well-seasoned installation crews.

The company also says it continues to investigate and invest in state-of-the-art closed-caption TV inspection and data collection systems, and is an industry driver in trenchless repair systems.
