Man taken to hospital after 2-car crash in city Sunday
A Sunday afternoon two-vehicle crash in the city sent one person to the hospital.
City emergency crews were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. for a crash at the intersection of South Monroe and East Jefferson streets.
Crews were seen speaking with a man sitting down on the grass near the crash. After speaking with city police, he was taken by ambulance to the hospital for unknown injuries.
Police said no other injuries were reported.
According to police, the driver of a Toyota Matrix was making a left turn from the westbound lane of East Jefferson Street onto South Monroe Street, and collided with a Kia Forte which was in the right turning lane for Kittanning Street.
Police will release the results of their investigation in a later report.
The vehicles both featured disabling damage. The Kia's front end was smashed in with the front bumper dislodged. The Toyota had heavy damage to the front-passenger door and fender, and the same wheel was bent at an awkward angle.
Firefighters restricted traffic around the scene until a tow truck arrived around 2:20 p.m. The scene was cleared by 2:30 p.m., and normal traffic resumed.
