Fairview Ave. blaze damages apartment; no one injured

A building with multiple rental units at 213 Fairview Ave. in Butler caught fire late Thursday night, damaging the third floor of the structure.

Fire crews responded to an apartment fire at 312 Fairview Ave. around 10:47 p.m. Thursday.

Thomas Fair, captain of the Butler City Fire Department, said no one was injured by the fire, and crews acted quickly enough to stop its spread.

He was not at the scene, but read from an initial report.

“The initial crew did a very good job containing the fire,” Fair said. “It was mostly contained to the third floor.”

Fair said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and he is not sure how much damage it caused to the apartment. The number of apartment units damaged is also unknown.

In addition to the Butler City Fire Department, the Department Of Veterans Affairs Fire Department, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District and Butler Ambulance responded to the scene.

Officials were on the scene for more than two hours, according to a report from the Butler County dispatch.
