Joseph Michael Thompson
Joseph Michael Thompson, 66, of Mercer, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, due to natural causes.
He was born on Dec. 6, 1954, in Grove City, to Robert Joseph Thompson and Patricia Ann Ritchie Thompson.
He graduated from Mercer High School in 1972. He received his associate degree from Mercyhurst College.
Joe was an electrician, working with IBEW 712.
He was a member of the Slippery Rock Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a first counselor in the branch presidency.
He enjoyed hunting, and was a girls' softball coach for over 20 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Sonya M. (Scott) Malone of Hermitage; his son, Jason M. Thompson of Ohio; his father, Robert Thompson of Mercer; his sister, Sandra (Stephen) Hartsky of Laramie, Wyo.; his brother, Dennis (Stacie) Thompson of Stoneboro, Pa.; five grandchildren, Mikayla, Derrick, Christopher, Jessica and Samantha; three great-grandchildren, Micah, Oakley and Olivia; a nephew, Matthew (Esther); two nieces, Morgan and Hayly; and three great-nephews, Fletcher; Saxton and Flint.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
THOMPSON — The family of Joseph Michael Thompson, who died Wednesday, May 12, 2021, will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Funeral Home, 1778 Perry Hwy., Volant.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Leesburg ECO Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jeff Hurst of the Leesburg Church and President Russ Karl of the Slippery Rock Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints presiding.Interment will be in Leesburg Cemetery.
