Programs set for area state parks

The following programs are planned at Moraine and McConnnells Mill State Parks. Bring a mask or face covering as COVID- 19 guidelines and social distancing will be followed.

- 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 23, June 30 and July 7, Lakeview Pavilion No. 4 (Lakeview Beach North Shore) DiscoverE Penns Adventurers (ages 9-12). To register call the park office at 724-368-8811.

- 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m June 24 Moraine’s Pleasant Valley Launch Full Moon Paddle

Paddling Lake Arthur in the full moon is a wonderful experience. A limited number of kayaks are available. Ages 12 and up, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Life jackets required to be worn. Pre-registration is required. To register call the park office 724 368-8811.

- 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 26, meet at the 528 bridge. Join us to make Moraine State Park look its best. Bring sturdy shoes, work clothes, work gloves and bring a friend. If you have a large group of volunteers, contact Mike Shaffer at 724-368-8811 to discuss appropriate projects for your group’s numbers and abilities that day. Pre-registration is required. - 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. June 26, Kildoo Picnic Area at McConnells Mill. Waterfall Hiking Series. Join the park naturalist for a one-mile morning hike to Kildoo Falls. To reserve your spot, call the park office at 724-368-8811.

- 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. July 2, McDanel’s Launch Area on the north shore of Moraine. Explore Offshore kayaking adventure. Ages 12 and up, under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Kayak and gear pro-vided, or bring your own. Life jackets required to be worn. Pre-registration required. Registration opens Thursday. To register call the park office 724 368-8811.

- 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Bear Run Boat Launch on south shore of Moraine. Discover just how much fun fishing can be when you do it together at a PFBC Family Fishing Program. Adults must bring a child. Pre-registration required. To register call the park office at 724 368-8811.

- 10 a.m. to noon July 8, McDanel’s Launch on the north shore of Moraine.

Experience the peace and tranquility that can be yours floating on Lake Arthur. This entry-level kayaking program is designed to meet the needs of those more interested in an easy, peaceful experience and nature watching rather than a long, hard paddle. Ages 12 and up. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Kayak and gear provided, or bring your own. Life jackets required to be worn. Pre-registration required. Registration opens June 24. - 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. July 9, Kildoo Picnic Area, McConnells Mill.

Wake up and enjoy the morning and nature with some wild teas and the park naturalist. Pre-registration is required. To reserve your spot, call the Park Office at 724- 368-8811.

- 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10, Park Road Moraine. Muddy Creek Oil Field Living History Exhibit. The Muddy Creek Oil Well is an award-winning restoration site of an antique oil well. The Bessemer Gas Engine and Marshall-Barr No. 19 oil well equipment is restored and open (free admission) for visitors to hear and see the industry that powered this region.
