Mary E. Byers
Mary E. (Burns) Byers, 94, of Saxonburg, died Monday, May 10, 2021, at Magnolia Place in Saxonburg.
Mary was born Thursday, Sept. 2, 1926, in Fairview Township, and was the daughter of the late Alfred A. and Blanche M. (Hildebrand) Burns.
She was a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saxonburg, where she was a liturgist. She was a former member of Faith Lutheran Church of Natrona Heights.
Mary was a hospice and Meals on Wheels volunteer for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, embroidery and cooking. She was a loving mom, grandma and great-grandma.
Mary is survived by her husband, Francis (Lou) Byers; her children, Carla (Rich) Eilenfeld of Fawn Township, and Marta (Steve) Valencic of Land O’ Lakes, Fla.; her grandchildren, Laura (Tab) Musser, Marci (Robb) Rusiewicz, Dean Sturgeon, Jeff (Noel) Sturgeon, Ryan (Ashley) Valencic and Steven Valencic; and her great-grandchildren, Ivan, Nikolai, Jilian, Addie, Evie, Wolf, Bode, Addison, Mason, Reagan and Sloan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles C. Body; her brothers, Edward and Alfred Burns; and her sisters, M. Jean Dunlap and Margaret Ace.
The family would like to thank the staff at Magnolia Place for the wonderful care that they gave to Mary.
BYERS — A memorial service for Mary E. (Burns) Byers, who died Monday, May 10, 2021, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Pleasant Unity Presbyterian Church, 101 Millerstown Road, Tarentum, with the Rev. Shirey of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church officiating.
As per Mary’s wishes, she was cremated.
Burial will take place in Mount Airy Cemetery, Natrona Heights, following the service.
