Elizabeth Matis
Elizabeth Josephine Matis, of Butler, quietly departed this life almost a year ago on Monday, May 25, 2020, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Elizabeth’s beautiful spirit is still remembered by all, and she lives on in her two sons, Carter White of Butler, and Gavin Herrera of Marietta, Ohio.
Elizabeth was born Oct. 4, 1982, in Butler, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Jr. and Rosemarie Matis.
She attended Butler Catholic School, graduated from Butler High School, and was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Marguerite (Rita) Matis.
She is survived by family and friends; her devoted boyfriend, John Drzemiecki of Pittsburgh; her siblings, Mary Frances (Christopher) Pugh of Atlanta, Ga., Melissa Matis of Pittsburgh, and Dean (Carol) Matis; her niece, Audrey Pugh; and her nephew, Thomas Pugh.
Elizabeth was hard working and a true friend to all.
She worked as a housekeeper, and as an electrical and locksmith assistant. She also enjoyed drawing.
She believed in complimenting and building others up. Her radiant smile will never be forgotten.
MATIS — Family and friends of Elizabeth Josephine Matis, who died Monday, May 25, 2020, would like to invite everyone for a memorial Mass in her honor to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, 432 Center Ave., Butler.
