Smith picks up $3,000 victory

BUFFALO TWP — Ryan Smith had not raced at Lernerville Speedway often.

His inexperience on that track was not evident Friday night, however, as the Kunkletown (Pa.) driver led wire to wire in winning the Western Pa. Speedweek Sprint feature at the Sarver oval.

Smith picked up $3,000 for the 30-lap victory.

He held off a challenge from defending points champion AJ Flick, who wound up second.

Sarver's Michael Norris started the Late Model feature on the pole and maintained the lead the entire way.

Dave Murdick and defending track champion Garrett Krummert battled for the lead early in the Modified feature, but Rex King Sr. jumped from third to first halfway through the race. He held the lead from there for his first Lernerville win of the season.

Corey McPherson led the Pro Stock feature from wire to wire, picking up his 49th career Lernerville win.

There were 89 cars in the pits, including 37 Sprints.

Lernerville will host Fan Appreciation Night this Friday with fireworks and a Fab4 racing program.
