Former restaurant worker faces burglary, theft charges

A former Big Shot Bob's employee has been charged with kicking in the restaurant's door and stealing a little more than $50 from the register.

Bradley J. Waller, 37, of Butler, was charged by Butler Township Police with felonies of burglary and criminal trespass as well as misdemeanors of theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.

Waller was arraigned Thursday morning and released on his own recognizance.

According to charging documents, police said the restaurant's owner arrived for work May 3 to find the back door open and damaged.

“The back door had a large footprint on the outside, which was photographed, and the latch was damaged from the door being kicked in,” said the investigating detective in the affidavit.

Police said the owner found $53 missing from the register, which appeared undamaged, leading him to believe the person who stole the money knew how to use the register. Police said a repair estimate listed damage to the door at $1,761.

Police said the store closed around 9:30 the night before, and they located nearby video footage of a man walking in the vicinity of the restaurant after that time.

Police said the owner was able to identify the man as Waller.

“(The owner) stated the reasons why he identified the male as Waller included his walk, clothing and tattoo,” police said.

Waller is scheduled to appear next for a June 24 preliminary hearing before District Judge Kevin P. O'Donnell.
