Authorities closed New Castle Road at the intersection at Moraine Point Plaza and diverted westbound traffic north to Route 422 for about a half hour after a multi-vehicle accident that occurred before noon on Friday.

Traffic on New Castle Road just off the Route 422 interchange in Butler Township is back to normal following a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning.

Authorities closed New Castle Road at the intersection at Moraine Point Plaza and diverted westbound traffic north to Route 422 for about a half hour after a vehicle accident that occurred before noon.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene, according to emergency dispatch radio.

No further information about the accident was immediately available.

The road reopened fully to traffic at about noon.
