Moraine public boat tours delayed
Hopeful passengers of the Moraine Preservation Fund’s new tour boat, Preston’s Pearl, will have to wait a little longer to ride than initially planned.
While the nonprofit unveiled the new boat in a ceremony May 6 with plans to offer the first tours Memorial Day weekend, a Facebook post said tours will be delayed until a dock reconstruction project can be completed.
The post said a renovation was planned to better suit the boat’s docking and loading process, and would also help protect the boat from the low depth areas of the inlet. However, the availability of steel stalled work on the dock.
MPF’s website said to check back for updated tour plans, and the Facebook post notes that officials hope to be able to offer tours by the end of June.
