Gerald P. “Jerry” Tarcha, 78, of Butler passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.

He was born Feb. 2, 1943, in Lyndora, and was the son of the late Andy and Anna (Prokopchak) Tarcha.

Jerry graduated from Butler High School in 1961, and was a member of the football team.

He served his country honorably with the U.S. Army Reserve.He spent the majority of his career at Armco, until his retirement in 1995 after 33 years of employment.He enjoyed golfing and spending his time at Armco “Oakview” Country Club, where he was a member for over 54 years.Jerry was known to volunteer at The Surgery Center on Benbrook Road with his wife, Ellie, and also help with events and fundraisers for St. John the Baptist Byzantine Church, where he was a lifelong member.He was very active with his church as an usher, a past member of the advisory board, and was a recent member of the finance board. Jerry was extremely active for the local community and he will be greatly missed.He was the beloved husband of Eleanore Tarcha since their marriage in 1998; the father of Bobbi (Brady Porter) Diller, Joe Mikolas, Sharon (Scott Schulz) Schwartz and Matt Mikolas; and the grandfather of Lori Diller, Kevin Schwartz and Steven Mikolas.Jerry is also survived by his sister, Mary “May” Williamson of Lyndora, and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his first wife, June (Burr) Tarcha and his brother, Andrew “Bob” Tarcha.TARCHA — A funeral Mass for Gerald P. “Jerry” Tarcha, who died Tuesday, April 27, 2021, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora.Entombment will be held privately at Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery.Masks are required in church.All services were entrusted to the SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Byzantine Church of Lyndora.Please visit www.spencerdgeibel.com.
