Adams OKs grant application for trail
ADAMS TWP — In a short meeting Monday night, supervisors agreed to apply for a grant through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
Gary Peaco, township manager, said the township is planning to make public space near the park more accessible to visitors. The funds would go toward completing that project.
“There’s some trail that needs to be put in,” Peaco said.
Peaco said the application would be, he hopes, for up to $250,000.
Trails have been a regular subject among township leaders and residents for some time.
The township has been looking to develop a trail ordinance over the last several months in an effort to codify trail standards.
Specifically, township leaders are hoping to plan for connectivity between developments and the township.
Construction was most recently underway for a trail on the former West property, south of the existing township park and west of Aiken and Taylor Ridge lanes.
The location is near the former Wygal land.
The township closed on the 102-acre property along Hutchman Road in February.
The move was part of a long-term effort to add the land to the township’s 164-acre community park.
