Betty Jean Gillespie
Betty Jean Gillespie, 77, of Lake City, Erie County, passed away to her Heavenly Home Thursday, April 22, 2021, at UPMC Hamot after suffering a stroke.
Betty was born on May 19, 1943, in Geneva, Ohio, and was the daughter to the late William Barber Gillespie and the late Madlyn Fern Southworth Gillespie.
Betty was a resident of Bethany House of the L’Arche Community and was of Catholic faith. She enjoyed dining out and shopping. She especially enjoyed the Christmas season and sitting by the beautiful trees at Bethany House. She loved a good cup of hot coffee and her hand lotions. She will be missed by her friends and her caregivers.
Betty is survived by her brother, Jack Gillespie, and his wife, Judi, of Port Orange, Fla.; and her cousins, Gloria, Nancy and James Gillespie, all of Hilliards, as well as many other cousins.
Betty’s family gratefully acknowledges and thanks the members of the L’Arche Community for the excellent care given to her. They brought sunshine and love into her daily life.
Gillespie — Visitation for Betty Jean Gillespie, who died Thursday, April 22, 2021, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the William F. Young Funeral Home, 132 Main St., West Sunbury.
Services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dan Miller of Ridgeville United Methodist Church officiating.
Betty will be laid to rest beside her Mother at Rosewood Cemetery in Ridgeville.
