James “Jim” R. Rogers

James “Jim” R. Rogers

James “Jim” R. Rogers, 75, of Pittsburgh, passed away Friday, April 9, 2021, at Kane Regional Center in McCandless.

Born July 16, 1945, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Tooker) Rogers.

Jim's love for his family was immeasurable, as was his loyalty to them. He enjoyed all Pittsburgh sports and ensured the love of Black & Gold was inscribed on his children's hearts, too. He also dabbled in photography, enjoyed all manner of trivia, and was an ardent student of the Civil War.

Jim cared deeply for animals — especially strays. Affectionately known in certain circles as “Uncle Jimmy,” with sparkling Irish eyes and a quick wit, he never failed to evoke a good belly-laugh among family and friends. A jack-of-all-trades, Jim's working years spanned everything from taxi driver to mail carrier to store manager.

Jim leaves behind his daughter, Michelle Hart of Pittsburgh; his son, Patrick of Butler; his granddaughters, Hannah and Emily; and his brother, Robert (Elsie) Rogers of Norfolk, Va.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne (Schubert) Rogers; his son, Sean; his brother, Kenneth; and his sisters, Patty Riemann, Peggy Mihm and Kathryn Perry.

Jim's family extends love and gratitude to his friends and caregivers at Kane.
