Donald G. McElravy Jr.

Donald G. “Don” McElravy Jr., 68, of Karns City, went to be with the Lord Monday morning, April 12, 2021, at Butler Memorial Hospital with his loving family at his side.

Donald was born Aug. 23, 1952, in Butler. He was the son of the late Donald G. “Hank” and Roseora Snyder McElravy.

He was a 1970 graduate of Karns City Area High School, and graduated in 1974 with a B.S. in elementary education from Slippery Rock University.

He was a longtime member of Karns City United Methodist Church.

Don enjoyed woodworking and vegetable gardening, and most especially the company of his six grandchildren, who were the “light of his life.” In his earlier years, he was devoted to home schooling his children.

Don loved his country and was a proud patriot.

Don had been employed for many years at Calumet Penreco in Karns City, and retired as a lab technician in 2016.

Don is survived by his wife, Kathleen “Kathy” Wynn McElravy, whom he married at the Bible Baptist Church of Ivywood near Saxonburg on March 15, 1980.

Also surviving are two sons, Jensen A. McElravy and his wife, Jennifer, of Karns City, and Benjamin T. McElravy and his wife, Whitney, of Chicora.

Don was affectionately known as “Poppy” by his six grandchildren, Ethan, Cayden, Deklan, Kaylee, Liam and Landon McElravy.

He is also survived by two brothers, Thomas L. “Tom” McElravy and his wife, Patricia, of Karns City and Peter D. “Pete” McElravy and his wife, Jeanine, of Chicora; his aunt, Charlotte Early Kloker of Karns City; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, all of Butler; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant twin sisters, his grandparents and his father-in-law and mother-in-law.

MCELRAVY — A memorial service for Donald G. “Don” McElravy Jr., who died Monday, April 12, 2021, will be announced by the family at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hile Funeral Home of Karns City.
