Harry Brown
Harry Richard Brown, 84, of Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully April 7, 2021, at Avow Hospice in Naples with his family by his side.
Harry was born Dec. 16, 1936, in Pittsburgh.
He graduated from Hampton High School.
Harry married his beloved wife whom he adored, Judith Brown, in September 1961. They were married for 59 years.
Harry worked at North Pittsburgh Telephone Co. for 47 years, where he began on the line crew and worked his way up through the company to CEO, and retired at the age of 72.
He enjoyed spending time at his river home in the summer, boating and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling the globe. He especially loved to be with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was competitive and energetic, and even played senior softball all the way up until the age of 84.
Harry was also actively involved through the years with the Mars Area School District Board of Education, La Roche College Advisory Board, Butler Vo-Tech School Board and Richland Youth Foundation board of directors. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge 729.
Harry is survived by his wife, Judith Brown; his children, Lynn Gundlach (Timothy) of Melbourne Beach, Fla., Jeffrey Brown (Lisa) of Butler, and Dr. David Brown (Yvonne) of Bend, Ore.; and his siblings, John Brown, June Kerkan (Daniel), Ralph Brown (Madeline), and Margaret Brown.
He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; as well as many other family members and friends.
BROWN — A private celebration of life for Harry Richard Brown, who died Wednesday, April 7, 2021, will be held at his and Judy’s summer home on the Allegheny River in Venango County, Pa., at a later time with their close family.
Private arrangements have been managed by Schellhaas Funeral Home in Bakerstown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to The Alzheimer’s Association, or Avow Hospice of Naples, FL.
