Vehicle crashes into building near Father Marinaro Park

A GMC Terrain crashed into a storage building at the intersection of Kaufman Drive and Grant Street in Butler near Father Marinaro Park on Wednesday. The building is owned by the City of Butler.

Three passengers of a minivan crawled out of the vehicle’s sunroof after it plowed into a storage unit near Father Marinaro Park shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Butler firefighters on scene said one passenger of the GMC Terrain suffered a minor injury, but refused ambulance transport.

The vehicle was totaled and the building, which is owned by City of Butler, had to be closed off by caution tape. West Penn Power responded to the scene to cut the building’s power, firefighters said.

A city firefighter said excess speed likely caused the crash.

City of Butler Police also responded to the scene.
