Richard McCarthy
Richard A. McCarthy, 99, of Saxonburg, formerly of McCandless, passed away March 30, 2021.
Born on Dec. 8, 1921, in Millvale, he was the son of the late Richard and Agnes McCarthy.
He was the beloved husband of the late Lenore Stoehr McCarthy; the loving father of Margaret (Bill) Gebhart and the late Douglas McCarthy; brother of the late John and Naomi McCarthy; and the proud grandfather of Daniel (Whitney) Gebhart, Teresa Gebhart, William “Billy” Gebhart Jr., and the late Adam Gebhart.
He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Copeland, Ryder and Kylee.
A World War II Army veteran, Richard was a stock broker beginning with McKelvey & Co., and then with several brokerage houses across Pittsburgh.Upon retirement, Richard enjoyed being a greeter at Giant Eagle in Gibsonia, and working for Roenigk Bus Co., as both a driver and aide.He was an active volunteer with East Liberty Food Kitchen and South Butler Community Meals on Wheels.Richard was also a devoted member of New Life Christian Ministries, and truly loved the Lord.MCCARTHY — Friends of Richard A. McCarthy, who died Tuesday, March 30, 2021, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.Additional visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at New Life Christian Ministries, 139 Knoch Road, Saxonburg, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. following the visitation.
