Bessie Datt

Bessie Katherine Datt, 96, of Grove City and formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Grove City on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

She was born Dec. 7, 1924, in Pittsburgh, to Frank Staley and Blanche Hoffman Staley.

She married Glenn Edgar Datt, who was born on April 6, 1920, and who preceded her in death on July 16, 2002.

She was trained as a beautician and as a licensed practical nurse. She spent most of her life as a homemaker.

She was a faithful member of Wolf Creek Presbyterian Church, now called Friendship Parish, where she taught Sunday school.

She enjoyed sewing, going to lunch with her friends, and taking care of her dogs. She was a “pet parent.”

She is survived by her son, Thomas (Shizue “Chiko”) Datt of McDonough, Ga.; her daughter-in-law, Sue Datt of Harrisville; her grandchildren, Heather M. Datt of Harrisville, and William P. Datt of Patriot, Ind.; and a great-grandson, Nicholas.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, William F. Datt; and two sisters, Ruth Hines and Mildred Faith.

DATT — There will be no public funeral services for Bessie Katherine Datt, who died Sunday, March 28, 2021.

Interment will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery.
